Biden Administration Moves to Increase Light Bulb Efficiency Standards

CNN reported Tuesday that the Biden Administration is rolling out a new policy that moves towards further national LED adoption while phasing out fluorescents. The rule was proposed on Monday, and the White House is aiming for a finalized law to be in the books by the end of Joe Biden’s first term. The policy would more than triple the current minimum light bulb efficiency level of 45 lumens per watt to over 120 lumens per watt for the light bulbs most commonly in use. A statement by Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said the rule would “help lower energy costs and keep money in the pockets of American families while reducing our nation’s carbon footprint.”

LED adoption is one of the many ways business owners can save money by adopting the most efficient energy technology.
