According to a Department of Energy 2021 Fall update regarding it’s Better Plants program, over 250 US manufacturers and utilities that implemented decarbonization measures saved a total of $9.3 billion on energy costs since the start of the initiative, while preventing roughly 116 million metrics tons of greenhouse gas emissions. The Better Plants program includes many US industrial sector partners, all pledging to minimize energy intensity by around 25% over a decade. Over 60 of these partner organizations have already succeeded in meeting the initiative’s energy and water use goals. These strides will help accelerate the current administration’s climate goals of a net-zero economy by 2050.
