New Residential EV Requirements Heading to IL Senate

On Tuesday, Senate Bill 240 passed the House Judiciary Committee. Introduced by State Senator Sara Feigenholtz, it would require any new construction of single-family homes and multi-unit residential buildings to include basic infrastructure for electric vehicle (EV) charging. It obligates at least one electric vehicle capable parking space per each residential unit that has dedicated parking. The bill is headed next to the Senate floor.

Transportation is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in Illinois, and this bill will encourage wider EV adoption if signed into law. 360 Energy Group is involved in transportation electrification and is excited to continue this crucial work into the future.
