April 2019 Newsletter

Updated: Jun 13, 2019

Hello April and hello spring! We hope the slightly warmer weather is motivating you to get started on some spring and summer energy efficiency projects. We want to take a moment to thank you all for your amazing work in energy efficiency. As we continue to work towards more energy savings, we want to step back and look at all that we have accomplished thus far. Check out our proven results graphic below and visit our website for more info.

Proven Results

We are proud of all that we have accomplished in energy efficiency over the years, and we look forward to furthering our commitment to reducing carbon emissions, identifying energy savings, and lowering your energy bill. Without all of you, we could not have produced the numbers you see above. Thank you for your continued dedication to energy efficiency, and we look forward to all of the retro-commissioning projects to come.

Due to your engagement in our retro-commissioning programs, we have en able to assess a total of 66,361,954 square feet for low to no cost operational improvements to optimize the energy performance of your buildings. Through these assessments, we've identified an energy savings of 139,224,901 kilowatt hours - that's the equivalent of driving nearly 3 millions miles in an average passenger vehicle and enough energy to power nearly 12,000 homes for a year. But, the energy savings is just the half of it. In implementing our retro-commissioning recommendations, our customers have seen an annual cost savings of $5,431,559 with an average simple payback of just over a year.

We appreciate your engagement with 360 Energy Group, and we hope to further our relationships with you this year, Not sure what energy efficiency project to start next? Let us identify your opportunities moving forward. There is always rooms for more in-depth energy analysis and we are eager to help. Electric Vehicles and Energy Savings

The buildup around electric vehicles has taken off in the past few years with Tesla pioneering itself as the leader of this market segment. While the mass intrigue may come in part from Tesla's sleek and stylish designs, electric vehicles offer energy and cost savings that benefit both you and the environment.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. used nearly nine billion barrels of petroleum last year, of which two-thirds went towards transportation. While fuel consuming vehicles push a large amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, an electric vehicle helps to offset the emissions from over 13,000 pounds of CO2.

To further portray the benefits of electric vehicles, our very own Project Manager, Bryan Tillman, helped author an article that broke down the cost savings associated with electric vehicles. The article explores how the Midwestern states of Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, North Dakota, and Wisconsin could save a total of $12 billion annually simply by switching fuels from petroleum to electricity. Even more savings can be considered if the vehicles are charged on renewable energy such as wind and solar.

Electric vehicle energy savings can be attributed to the energy efficiency of an electric motor and the efficiency of electric power distribution. For example, the Tesla Model S uses 85 kilowatt hours of energy for ever 265 miles, while the average gas-powered vehicle uses 33 kilowatt hours of energy for every 35 miles. If the average person drives 13,474 miles in a year, the Tesla Model S would use only 4,321 kWh of energy annually whereas the gas consuming vehicle would use 12,704 kWh of energy annually. Based on this model, the electric vehicle is three times more energy efficient than the gas-powered vehicle.
